Leaker says a Grand Theft Auto 4 remaster is coming

A leaker has claimed that a remaster of Grand Theft Auto 4 is in development – if so, let’s hope it’s better than the recent trilogy.

The leak comes in the form of a report by Xfire, which suggests a GTA 4 remaster is in the works. In 2021, well-known leaker RalphsValve said a GTA 4 remaster was coming, but now this new report has reignited rumours.

We can’t know for sure whether this report is real, so take it with a grain of salt. However, it’s worth considering the possibility of a potential GTA 4 remaster. Especially following the release of the GTA trilogy, which was critically panned for a large number of issues.

GTA 4 Remaster Report

The report doesn’t give a specific release date, only saying that GTA 4 will be remastered eventually. It also says it will be bundled with two other GTA games, but doesn’t say which. It’s possible this could refer to the two expansions for GTA 4 (The Lost and the Damned, and The Ballad of Gay Tony), or it could be two entire games.

While we wait for GTA 6, it definitely makes sense for Rockstar to pump out these remasters. We already got ones for GTA 3, San Andreas and Vice City recently. Adding GTA 4 to those games seems like an easy decision.

However, nothing official has been confirmed by Rockstar or Take-Two. It remains to be seen how this potential remaster would be handled in the wake of the remastered trilogy. Would Rockstar put the effort into this one to ensure it doesn’t end up as poor as the previous remasters?

As for GTA 6, all we know if that the game is in development. It sounds like it’s still a long way off, so perhaps a GTA 4 remaster would help bridge the gap.
