Rainbow Six Siege Caster KiXSTAr Passes Away At Age 24

Heart-breaking news has shocked the esports community as beloved Rainbow Six Siege caster KiXSTAr has passed away.

At only 24 years old, Michael “KiXSTAr” Stockley was a well-loved and respected caster within the Rainbow Six Siege esports scene. Not just for their skill as a former professional player, or even for their career as a streamer. KiXSTAr was a positive voice amidst the R6 community.

News of his death shocked and saddened members of the community. The announcement came in the form of a letter from his parents, posted online by his former casting partner Parker “Interro” MacKay.

A MONUMENTAL LOSS

KiXSTAr’s death is devastating, especially at such a young age. In a statement from his mother and step-father, they said that KiXSTAr “worked hard to lift up the R6 Siege community“. However, they also stated that “in turn so many [community members] lifted him up as well“.

Michael played professionally back in 2016 with Rainbow Six Siege team, Team Orbit. That same year, he branched out to broadcasting, which he continued right up till the last Invitational event this year. In honour of Michael, the Rainbox Six esports Twitter announced that it would delay the North American League playday.

Michael’s parent’s announced that he had “so much planned for the future“. With Rainbow Six Siege’s rapid growth and last year’s esports overhaul, this marks a tragic end to what would have been a bright future. KiXSTAr’s casting partner Interro, posted his reaction to the news. He stated:

I’ve struggled to put my thoughts into proper words over the last 24 hours. I’m at a total loss. I lost a best friend, a brother, and a coworker. I’m beyond heartbroken. I love you Michael and I’ll miss you so much.

Our thoughts are with Michael’s family during this tragic time.
