The Book Of Boba Fett Could Be Teasing A Cal Kestis Appearance

Episode 5 of The Book of Boba Fett could be teasing an upcoming appearance of Cal Kestis, the protagonist from Jedi: Fallen Order.

Episode 5 of The Book of Boba Fett shook Star Wars fans everywhere when it aired on Disney+ yesterday. Seeing the return of Din Djarin for an entire episode, we basically got an episode of The Mandalorian. With plenty of call backs to the movies and other Star Wars shows, there was a lot for viewers to unpack. However, video game fans were eating especially good during this episode. There were several Easter eggs for the Jedi: Fallen Order game from Respawn Entertainment.

Firstly, you’d be hard pressed to miss the appearance of a BD droid in the show. It’s an exact replica of BD-1, the droid companion that accompanies Cal Kestis in the game. The BD droid isn’t referred to specifically as BD-1, however. It’s unclear whether this is the exact same droid we know and love. He’s just as adorable as we remember him, though.

Secondly, you might have picked up on the planet name Bracca. The Mandalorian makes a comment about how he was once on that planet, apparently fairly recently. Bracca is the starship graveyard planet that Jedi: Fallen Order opens upon. It’s where Cal Kestis went into hiding while on the run from the Empire.

Jedi: Fallen Order is part of official Star Wars canon, so it’s great to hear and see its influences referenced. However, some fans think that The Book of Boba Fett is teeing up for a much bigger connection to Fallen Order. Bear with me on this one…

How will we see Cal Kestis in The Book Of Boba Fett?

At the end of the episode, The Mandalorian explains that he will help Boba Fett, but he first must visit Grogu. We know from the end of The Mandalorian Season 2 that Grogu was taken away by Luke Skywalker to train in the ways of the force. With so many Fallen Order references, some fans think that Cal Kestis might also be awaiting The Mandalorian with Grogu and Luke Skywalker.

This is a big stretch – The Mandalorian is set over 30-years after the events of Fallen Order. Cal Kestis is likely getting on a bit these days. However, it would certainly be a great way to utilise the Cal Kestis character in live action beyond his video game role.

Either way, we’re going to be seeing more of Cal Kestis soon. EA recently confirmed that Respawn is working on three new Star Wars games. One of them is confirmed to be a sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order.
