The official statement from Bungie regarding the error states it crops up when trying to play Destiny 2 without having the latest update installed. Long story short, users need to exit the game, install the said update and restart the game. Here’s how to fix the error for every format:
– Sign in to the Xbox Live account linked to Destiny 2
– Select the ‘Games and Tabs’ option in the home menu
– Find the Destiny 2 launch icon
– Press the menu hamburger button on the Xbox controller and select ‘Update’
– Sign in to the PSN account linked to Destiny 2
– Find the Destiny 2 game launch icon in the PS4/PS5 home menu
– Press the ‘Options’ button on the PS4/PS5 controller
– Select ‘Check For Update’ and install the necessary update
– Sign in to the Xbox Live account linked to Destiny 2
– Select the ‘Games and Tabs’ option in the home menu
– Find the Destiny 2 launch icon
– Press the menu hamburger button on the Xbox controller and select ‘Update’
– Restart Steam to trigger automatic updates of installed titles such as Destiny 2
– If this feature isn’t enabled, manually select the update button when selecting Destiny 2
– Choose the ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files’ option if Destiny 2 does not update.
